All families and prospective families who are registered with a Catholic parish can request tuition assistance from their pastor/parish office. Each parish has a fund specifically set aside to help families pay for their children's' Catholic education. Generally, these requests are required in writing to the parish office early in the year (February-March), and some parishes request copies of tax returns. The amounts can vary widely, depending on the number of families appealing for assistance in each parish, the size of the fund, financial need of the family, and other factors. The process, supporting documentation, and timing also varies among the parishes, but this is the #1 source of aid that our families can readily access. Please contact your parish office to find out the specifics and to plan for the academic year ahead. Parish tuition assistance is not automatically renewed, and families are required to request a grant each year.
The Diocese of Providence
The Diocese of Providence provides tuition assistance grants to families of modest means whose children attend, or are planning to attend, Diocesan Catholic schools, including Cluny School. The aid is granted strictly on the basis of demonstrated financial need, without regard to a family's religious affiliation. To apply for a grant from the Diocese, the "FACTS" financial aid application must be completed and submitted to the Diocesan Office of Education by mid February. The FACTS form may be completed in writing or on-line (www.factstuitionaid.com). Copies of the latest federal income tax return filed and copies of the parents' W-2 wage and tax statements must be supplied. Cluny School office can provide you a FACTS form for the coming school year.
Awards are generally communicated by the Diocese to the families in late April.
Note: Grants are available for Kindergarten through Grade 12 only. The Diocese of Providence is not able to provide grants for Pre-Kindergarten students at this time.
Child Care Tax Credit
Working families may be eligible for a child care tax credit which helps offset tuition expense. This is for Pre-Kindergarten only. Please consult your tax advisor to see if this applies to your particular situation.
Families enrolling three (3) or more children in Cluny School may be eligible for a discount. Please contact the principal for more information for your specific situation.
Louise Costley Scholarship
The Louise Costley Scholarship was set up to honor Louise Costley's dedication to Cluny School for over 34 years. Louise not only worked for Cluny School but she is a past parent. The Scholarship is given out each year to a family living the Cluny Mission and in need of financial assistance. Contributions can be made to the scholarship fund throughout the year.
Star Kids Scholarship Program
Cluny School participates in a scholarship program administered through the Star Kids Scholarship Program, based in Middletown, RI. The Star Kids Program provides tuition and other school-related financial aid (e.g. uniforms, field trip expenses) to low-income, at-risk children, to provide them the opportunity to attend quality, non-public schools such as Cluny.
