The Cluny School Athletic Program was established to allow any interested student in grades 4 through 8, who meets appropriate academic standards, to learn and participate in a variety of sports. These include soccer, basketball, cross-country and sailing. The Athletic Program is staffed by Cluny Faculty members. Parent volunteers for all programs are encouraged.
SoccerSoccer is offered to boys and girls in the fall for grades 5 through 8 and in the spring for grades 4 through 8. Students compete against Note: Each year the Fall Soccer team travels via ferry to Block Island for a day of soccer and family fun. BasketballBasketball is offered to boys and girls in grades 6 through 8. Students in grades 6 through 8 compete against other local teams in a league organized by the City of Newport Recreation Department. Games are played at the City of Newport Recreation Department facility (The Hut) and St. Michaels School. Practices take place at Cluny and the Newport Athletic Club. Cross CountryCross Country is offered to students in grades 4 through 8. Students practice on the school grounds and compete amongst four private schools from Aquidneck Island. Our home meets are run both on the school grounds and at the beautiful Fort Adams State Park. The season lasts from mid-September until the end of October. |
