Cluny Events

Cluny Country Fair
The Cluny Country Fair, a major fundraiser, is held each September and is an Aquidneck Island tradition of more than 40 years. The school grounds are transformed into a festive fair where there are games, prizes, raffles and fun!

Parent/Teacher/Faculty Soccer Game
At the end of the fall soccer season, the students challenge their parents and the faculty to a friendly game of soccer. All soccer players take part and entire student body comes to cheer everyone on.

Food Drive
The Cluny School family comes together to help those in need. The students organize food and clothing drives throughout the year.

Toys For Tots
In conjunction with the U.S. Marines, Cluny School participates in the annual Toys for Tots toy drive.

Living Nativity
The First Christmas is celebrated each year under the stars at Cluny School. The presentation features the entire student body and faculty recreating the Nativity with live animals and a beautiful collection of Christmas songs.

Science Fair
Each student in grades 7 and 8 participates in our Science Fair. Students prepare and present their science fair projects to the student body and to judges from around the community. Based on the results of the judges, students are selected to represent Cluny School at the State Science Fair.

Catholic Schools' Week
The last week in January is a fun-filled week at Cluny. To celebrate Catholic Schools’ Week, the Student Council sponsors Spirit Week with activities planned for each day. Themes for the days include Community Day, Student Day, National Day, Volunteer Day and Teacher’s Day.

Variety Show
Each year Cluny students and faculty demonstrate their many talents by participating in our Variety Show. Students and faculty perform a variety of acts including singing, dancing, comedy and skits.

St. Patrick's Day Parade Float
In March, Cluny School enters a float in the Annual Newport St. Patrick’s Day Parade. An after-school workshop is organized to make decorations. All families are invited to march in the parade. We use this opportunity to showcase the spirit of Cluny School.

Grandparents and Special Friends Day
The Parents’ Club hosts a special day for Grandparents and Special Friends. Invitations are sent to family and friends to experience a morning of school activities. Invited guests enjoy a coffee social in our auditorium where student work is on display. Guests are then invited to the classroom to participate in morning activities including our morning prayer.

Cluny Golf Classic
In the spring, Parents' Club volunteers host a golf tournament. The school has been fortunate to have it at the Newport Country Club each year. This is a major fundraiser and there are many volunteer opportunities to assist on the committee and throughout the day.

Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
Those 2nd grade students who wish to make their Reconciliation and First Holy Communion are prepared throughout the year. In May, Reconciliation and First Holy Communion Mass takes place at the school.

May Crowning
Honoring the Blessed Mary, Cluny holds a traditional May Crowning. The entire student body, faculty and families gather in the school auditorium where Mary is crowned and celebrated.

Multicultural Day
The campus is transformed into an international showcase. Each class represents a region of the world and provides interesting facts, articles and food from the region. The students and their families can take a trip around the world in one afternoon.

Eighth Grade Class Trip
Each year, the students of the graduating class take an exciting class trip. The decision on destination and preparations for the trip start in October. Classes have traveled to New York, Canada and Pennsylvania.

Family Mass and Social
In June as the school year ends, the Parents’ Club hosts a Family Mass and Social. Parents are asked to prepare the Mass and do the readings. Weather-permitting, the Mass is celebrated outdoors on our beautiful campus. After celebrating Mass together, we enjoy a morning of fellowship where we often say goodbye to our families who are moving on.
